BUNIONS |
Bunions are painful conditions that are usually found just behind the big toe which is a malalignment of the great toe joint. Bunions are caused by an abnormally functioning foot. Bunions are not generally caused by tight fitting shoes, as commonly believed. Treatments for bunions include cortisone injections, changes in shoe gear, orthotics and/or surgery. |

HAMMERTOES
Hammertoes are crooked or contracted toes. They are caused by any imbalance in the way the bones of the foot are aligned which causes the tendons on the bottom surface of the foot to overpower the tendons on the top of the foot that insert into the toes. Treatments for hammertoes include wearing more comfortable shoes, cortisone injections and possibly surgery. |

HEEL PAIN

Heel pain can occur from many different maladies but the most common cause is heel spur syndrome or plantar fascitiis. This is due to the foot functioning abnormally causing the plantar fascia, which is a strong band on the bottom of the foot, to pull away from the heel bone. Patients oftentimes complain of pain when they first wake up in the morning. Treatments include cortisone injections, anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy, night splints, orthotics and/or surgery. Orthotics are generally the best long-term treatment for this problem, as symptomatic treatment, is more often than not, only temporary. |

INGROWN TOENAILS

Ingrown toenails most commonly appear on the large toes
but can occur on any nail. They can cause significant
pain and oftentimes patients complain that the bed sheets
bother them. If left untreated, they can become
infected. Treatments for this problem is a relatively
painless procedure that brings immediate relief. |
FUNGAL TOENAILS |
Fungal toenails are caused by microorganisms which also causes common athletes foot. These organisms invade the nail growth area as opposed to the skin. The nail growth area is covered by the nail making treatment more difficult than treating athletes foot. Treatments include topical medications and in later stages of the problem oral medications. |
WARTS |
Warts are a virus in the body that manifests itself in the skin. They aren't very difficult to treat and often can reoccur. Treatments include chemical applications, liquid nitrogen, hyfrecation, needling and excision. |
MORTON'S NEUROMA |
Neuromas are a thickening or swollen nerve that gets pinched between the metatarsals of the foot. It is generally caused by an abnormally functioning foot causing excessive irritation of the nerve by the metatarsals. Treatments include cortisone injections, changes in shoe gear and orthotics, alcohol sclerosing injections and/or surgery. |
